The Orion’s Belt browser game is great example of the 4X - eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate game genre. Orion’s Belt is a free sci-fi browser game of exploration and war where you face other real players on an turn based game. You start on a private zone where you can grow your empire. When you’re ready, you may use a wormhole to travel to the hot zone. On this public zone you’ll interact with other players and it’s all about exploration, expanding, exploiting and exterminating.

eXplore
Orion’s Belt has a vast universe for your to explore, filled with special universe bodies. The most basic element is the planet. But you have markets, pirate bays, arenas, academies and lots of other items. The most important one is the Relic. Relics provide you with special resources and you’ll want to get as much relics as you can. Remember that just like on a Risk Online Game, you’ll have to conquer and protect your territory.
eXpand
You can’t be a threat to your adversaries if you have little resources. War is about money and resources to spend on combat units. You’ll need to expand your empire to get as much rare resources as you can. As you do so, you’ll also obtain several assets that will prove to be quite useful.
eXploit
On Orion’s Belt space browser game you can follow professions, and Pirate is one of them. When you’re playing like a pirate, you may raid other player’s planets and steal rare resources from them. Exploiting as much from others as you can is a great and easy way to grow your empire.
eXterminate
Orion’s Belt battles are the most interesting part of the game. The battles are placed on a board game similar to chess, where you’ll face your opponent one on one. There are several combat unis with special abilities that make this tactical MMO very interesting.
Try Orion’s Belt
As you can see, Orion’s Belt is a great 4X game. If you liked Civilization, Master of Orion, Heroes of Might and Magic or even Alpha Centauri: Try it now!
