A couple of weeks ago we had the first player to reach level 10. Ashis did it and the following is an interview with him.

OB: What’s it like to be the first player to reach level 10?

Ashis: I feel very proud! It was a personal goal of mine, and I was playing with that objective. Every day I played Orion’s Belt for a couple of hours.

OB: Can you introduce yourself? Who are you, what do you do, and how did you find Orion’s Belt?

Ashis: My name is Alexandre, I’m from Cascavel - Brasil. I’m a web developer and I found the game while traveling on the web. At that time I played another game from Brasil and I found Orion’s Belt on its first version.

OB: What was your strategy to reach level 10?

Ashis: Well, I always use premium services to get cost reduction and  and production speed increased. I had two management strategies: one week I’d focus on combat unit creation, and on the other week I’d focus on facility upgrades. And I always pillaged to get rare resources, that’s the best way to get rare resources.

OB: So you main rare resource income was from pillage?

Ashis: Yes. The planet income is very low, on one planet pillage I’d get as much resources as a full day’s income!

OB: But you need  a huge quantity of rare resources… can pillage achieve that?

Ashis: If you’re lucky… but it took a long time to reach level 10. I had to store resources for a full week for each main facility.

OB: And what about the orions you needed for the premium services. How did you get them?

Ashis: I sold resources and combat units at the Auction House. There are several resources that my race doesn’t use much, so I sold all the extra income on the auction house. I never bought orions, I don’t even know if I can do that from Brasil.

OB: Now that you’ve reached level 10, what are your goals?

Ashis: Now I want to focus on military and build a lot of combat units. I’ll also play on my two other accounts. And I’ll rule the universe! Hehehe :)

OB: What about your alliance? You left System Lords to form your own alliance. Do you have any plans at the alliance level? Maybe regarding relics or war against other alliances?

Ashis: Yes. I’ll help my alliance members to grow stronger. When we’re ready, we’ll go after the relics. :)

OB: Thank you for your time! Any last words for the new players of the game?

Ashis: Yes, you should be objective and don’t be afraid to attack other planets! Heheheh :)

The first Orion’s Belt 2.0 Tournament has reached its final stage. It was a long hard fought tournament and I’m very pleased to say that there aren’t administrators on this final. The finalists are Morf and AD420, and they won against Mawhrin-Skel and Pyro on the semifinals.

The final is being very interesting and you can follow it here. Note that both Morf and AD420 had to make some excellent matched against Pyro and Mawhrin-Skel to reach the finals. They fully deserve it!

I’m very curious to know who’s going to be the first Orion’s Belt TA tournament’s champion… what do you think? AD420 is leading, but that really doesn’t mean anything as we know.

I’d wish good luck to them, but luck is for beginners:)

The defeat at Marathon marked the end of the first Persian invasion of Greece, and the Persian force retreated to Asia. Darius then began raising a huge new army with which he meant to completely subjugate Greece; however, in 486 BC, his Egyptian subjects revolted, indefinitely postponing any Greek expedition. After Darius then died, his son Xerxes I re-started the preparations for a second invasion of Greece, which finally began in 480 BC.

Controlling the middle proved to be the key to wining the match. His cruzaders were badly placed and I took advantage of that. Good Match =)

I was bounty hunting for orions when I found a high level player’s fleet near me. I had a good fleet in my possession so I started the attack. My player is from the Levyr race, while my opponent is a Utopian. I found very interesting how the two races units offered different game play. Here is the battle:

As you can see, the Levyr race has bigger numbers. But that doesn’t mean anything as you know. The Utopian had a small group of Fenix, and in my opinion the Fenix is one of the best units on the game for start to middle game play. On the other hand I had the Spider, that IMO is one of the best units for end of a battle.

Another Utopian unit that proved to be quite useful is the Raptor… man… my bugs are getting smashed by raptors. At this moment I’m considering that a Raptor is a special unit, just because of the huge bonus against light units. Levyr light  units are quite fragile and easily hunted by raptors. The Utopian also had Nova, a devastating weapon against animal units.

So, at the start of the match I was thinking that I wouldn’t make it. My opponent is a good player on the board, he didn’t have the numbers, but he had to tools. On be beginning of the game he started to hunt down my lights, as expected. The only thing I could think of was to start splitting my Worm. And at some point of the game I had several little Worm groups that proved to be quite useful in fighting the enemy’s cannon fodder.

And I managed to trap him on the left side of the board. It was a long battle, there were little mistakes made, and in the end I sacrificed a lot of Spider just to trap his Fenix. It was going to be a patience game. Unfortunately, my opponent lost by the third timeout. I was sad, because I was really liking the battle.

But it was a great match! And you, are you also experiencing great matched? Want to share? :)
